Objetivos

OBJETIVOS DEL CURSO:
El curso de preparación para el TOEFL tiene como objetivo proporcionar al alumno las competencias necesarias para superar con éxito las tareas del examen: Reading, Writing, Listening y Speaking.


Students will take partial and complete practice tests in order to identify specific problem areas, especially within the grammar and writing sections, and will be assigned supplementary exercises which target their weaknesses.

There will be a strong emphasis on listening practice to accustom students to different North American accents, familiarize students with common listening test topics, and improve students' overall listening skills.

Students will be encouraged to read articles close in style and topic to the reading passages on the TOEFL and will learn techniques to improve their reading speed and increase their vocabulary.

Effective ways of making a short speech and responding to a question within a short time will be examined to help students develop the skills necessary to improve their scores on the speaking section.

In order to improve their score on the writing section, students will learn the techniques required to write clearly structured essays. Other techniques such as paraphrasing, summarizing and synthesizing will also be developed. In addition, students will be provided with sample essays and essay topics.

Students will develop general and section-specific test-taking strategies aimed at improving their score on the TOEFL

Requisito
- Estar matriculado para el examen TOEFL y/ó acretidar un nivel mínimo de inglés B2 consolidado.
Tendrán preferencia de matrícula los alumnos que esten matriculados para la realización del examen TOEFL en el CDL



Temas a desarrollar

This course is aimed at learners preparing to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). TOEFL is standardized language test required for admission into colleges and universities where instruction is in English, and also to apply for many exchange and scholarship programs. TOEFL measures the ability of nonnative speakers of English to use and understand English as it is spoken, written and heard in college and university settings.


Objectives:

Students will be familiarized with the different formats of the TOEFL test (the Internet-based TOEFL test, the Computer-Based TOEFL test, and the Paper-based TOEFL test), types of questions and scoring.

Método comunicativo con énfasis en la interacción entre los alumnos y la relación entre lo aprendido en clase y las situaciones de la vida real.

REQUISITOS INDISPENSABLES:
* Estar matriculado para el examen TOEFL y/ó acretidar un nivel mínimo de inglés B2 consolidado.

*En caso de no cumplir alguno de los dos requisitos se anulará la matrícula.

El curso consta de 21 horas presenciales y 9 horas online.

Conocimientos previos necesarios:

B2.2 ó equivalente.

Otra información

EVALUACIÓN:
La evaluación del curso se basará en la asistencia y participación en clase de cada alumno además de en un examen final.
