General Conditions

GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR SPECIFIC TRAINING AND COURSES

INTRODUCTION
The following are the general conditions applicable to all activities of Face-to-Face Training, Blended Learning, Online Courses, and Continuous Enrollment Courses at the Center for Continuing Education of the Universitat Politècnica de València (CFP – UPV), without prejudice to any specific conditions that, if they exist, will be duly detailed in the course public information.
Students can contact the CFP-UPV at any time through the established channels, which can be found at https://www.cfp.upv.es/formacion-permanente/general/contacto.html

DEFINITIONS
Face-to-Face Training: Face-to-Face Training activities are those that are entirely delivered synchronously. These activities follow a fixed schedule, either by attending a specific physical classroom or through virtual means (virtual classroom), as detailed in the course public information.
Blended Learning: Blended Learning activities are those that combine synchronous and asynchronous modalities. They have a portion with a fixed schedule, either by attending a specific physical classroom or through virtual means (virtual classroom), and another portion with a flexible schedule, allowing access to online content.
Online Courses: Online courses are those conducted in an asynchronous mode, meaning they have a flexible schedule, and there's no need to attend any physical or virtual classroom. Students can participate remotely through the internet.
Continuous Enrollment Courses: Continuous Enrollment Courses are courses conducted in an asynchronous mode, and their enrollment period remains open throughout the academic year or part of it. The training period is not fixed generically but adapts to when each student joins the course.

REGISTRATION AND ENROLLMENT
• Registration and enrollment periods, as well as the conditions and requirements, will be indicated in the course public information.
• Enrollment in a course will be considered effective once payment has been verified in accordance with the prices and deadlines specified in the course public information.
• Once enrollment is completed, the student will be obliged to comply with the academic and administrative regulations of CFP – UPV.
• The student will be responsible for the accuracy of the information provided in their enrollment, which will be used for all communications and reflected in any certificates issued, if applicable.

ACCESS TO TRAINING MATERIALS AND ONLINE MONITORING
• Access to the asynchronous component of courses, i.e., online content, will occur once the course has started, the day following the enrollment being considered effective, i.e., after payment has been verified in accordance with the prices and conditions specified for each course.
• Course materials may be accessible to students either at the beginning of the teaching period or in a scheduled manner according to the academic calendar.

REFUND OF ENROLLMENT FEES
Refunds of enrollment fees will be considered in the following cases:

1. Due to causes attributable to the University:
• Cancellation of the activity.
• Substantial changes in the activity's conditions: modality, content, dates, and schedules.
• Incorrectly charged amount.

In these cases, the enrollment fee will be refunded upon request by the interested party, accompanied by the necessary documentation.

2. Due to causes not attributable to the Universitat:
• Request for personal reasons more than 10 calendar days before the start of the activity.
• Request for other reasons, less than 10 calendar days before the start of the course. In this case, the refund of the corresponding enrollment fee will require authorization from the course organizers.

The student or payer shall request the refund through the CFP - UPV training portal, providing the required documentation (as indicated in the refund request document) with the following considerations:
• In general, enrollment fees will not be refunded if the request is made less than 10 calendar days before the start of the course.
• Refund requests submitted more than 6 months after the expected end of the course teaching period will not be accepted.
• Refund approvals where the student fails to provide the necessary documentation within a maximum period of 6 months from the date of the request will be revoked.
• Refund requests paid by credit card will be refunded to the same credit card. However, CFP - UPV may decide, for technical reasons, to refund via bank transfer, in which case the interested party will need to provide the necessary documentation.
• Payments made through Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) using a credit card will be considered as payment by receipt for all purposes.
• If an invoice has been requested in the name of a third party, the refund will be made in the name of that third party.
• For refunds to an account with a different account holder than the payer, authorization from the company or institution that received the invoice will be required.
• A refund request may result in the cancellation of enrollment.

DATES, SCHEDULES, AND LOCATION OF STUDIES
Synchronous or partially synchronous training activities will be characterized by specific schedules and locations. To this end, they will be governed by the following considerations:
• The dates and schedules of face-to-face activities, as well as their duration, will be established by those responsible for them and included in the course public information.
• The schedule established in the activities, unless indicated otherwise, will be the Spanish peninsular time (UTC +1, with daylight saving time change to UTC+2).
• Regarding the location, the organizers of the activity will include the physical classroom where the activity will take place in the public information, as well as the technology to be used when the course can be followed remotely through virtual means (virtual classroom).

On the other hand, asynchronous or partially asynchronous training activities will be characterized by flexibility in terms of schedules and locations. In this regard, the following considerations should be considered:
• Matriculated students will be notified of the access address for materials and the credentials for accessing them.
• Access to course content during the study period will be available 24/7, except for moments related to system maintenance or when equipment cannot be kept operational due to power outages or internet access issues.
• If there are any activities with specific schedules or deadlines during the course, they will be set in Spanish peninsular time (UTC +1, with daylight saving time change to UTC+2), unless otherwise indicated.

For continuous enrollment courses:
• The duration of the course will be indicated in the public information and will be calculated from the moment the student has access to the training platform.
• The course dates will be calculated based on the enrollment date.
• Holiday periods include Christmas, Easter, and the month of August.

Any changes to the configuration data of the training activity included in the public information, will be communicated well in advance for the knowledge of those enrolled, which may, in some cases, entitle them to request a refund of the enrollment fee.

CERTIFICATES
• CFP - UPV will issue the corresponding Certificate of Attendance or Achievement, in accordance with the type and definition of the activity. Attendance of a minimum of 80% of the course hours is required for the Certificate of Attendance, and for the Certificate of Achievement, in addition to attendance, passing the evaluation tests is necessary.
• In asynchronous training activities, attendance will not be certified under any circumstances, and obtaining a certificate will be subject to passing the corresponding assessments.
• The certification issued by CFP - UPV is electronic and can be accessed through the CFP - UPV training portal. It has the same validity as a traditional paper certificate.
• The student will have their certificate within a period not exceeding one month from the completion of the activity.
