Temas a desarrollar

* Seminario: Laboratory of Photovoltaics at the Warsaw University of Technology – a review of research activities.
Fecha: 19/06/2019
Hora: 10:00 h.
Lugar: ETSID-Aula S33
Duración estimada: 3h
Resumen del contenido:
The Laboratory of Photovoltaics at the Faculty of Physics of Warsaw University of Technology specializes in optical and electrical characterization of thin film solar cells.
Various techniques including absorption, luminescence, quantum efficiency as well as a spectrum of current- and capacitance-based methods are employed to investigate physical processes taking place in photovoltaic devices.
For the years the scientific activity in the Laboratory focuses around the role of defects in limiting photovoltaic performance of thin film solar cells.
The talk will briefly introduce the possible roles of defects in semiconductor solar cells, including topics of doping, recombination and metastable phenomena. The available techniques in the Laboratory will be described along with their utilization in defect studies. All the techniques will be illustrated by recent results, focusing on the physical information that can be obtained by using them.
A case study of CIGS solar cells will be presented as an example of a devices where defects play important role in not only limiting but also enhancing the efficiency of a solar cell.
