GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR OWN TITLES
INTRODUCTION
Below, the general conditions applicable to all own titles of the Universitat Politècnica de València are detailed, without prejudice to other specific conditions that, if they exist, will be conveniently detailed in their public information.
The student may contact the CFP-UPV at any time through the channels established for this purpose, which can be found at https://www.cfp.upv.es/formacion-permanente/general/contacto.html
DEFINITIONS
Own Titles. The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) considers Own Titles to be the highest level of studies within the offer of lifelong learning, aimed at academic or professional specialization equivalent to level 7 qualifications according to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) for Postgraduate degrees (Own Master's, Diploma of Specialization, and Diploma of Expert), or equivalent to level 6 qualifications according to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) for the Diploma of University Extension and the Own Bachelor’s Degree.
Face-to-Face Training: Face-to-Face Training activities are considered those that are developed entirely in synchronous mode. The follow-up of these activities is carried out on a fixed schedule, either by attending a specific physical classroom or through telematic means (virtual classroom), as detailed in the public information of the action.
Blended Learning: Blended Learning activities are considered those that are developed in a combined manner, in both synchronous and asynchronous modalities. They therefore have a part on a fixed schedule, either by attending a specific physical classroom or through telematic means (virtual classroom), and another part with a flexible schedule, with access to online content.
Online Training: Online courses are considered those that are developed in asynchronous mode, that is, on a flexible schedule and without the need to attend any physical or virtual classroom, as the student can follow them remotely through the internet.
ACCESS REQUIREMENTS
Without prejudice to other additional access requirements that may be detailed in the public information of Own Titles, the following access requirements indicated by current regulations will apply:
• To access Master's, Diploma of Specialization, or Diploma of Expert studies (postgraduate studies), one of the following requirements must be met:
a) Hold an official Spanish university degree, or have a degree issued by a higher education institution from another state in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
b) Hold a university degree from other countries, duly legalized. The legalization process can be carried out during the academic year of enrollment, with enrollment being in provisional acceptance status until it is submitted.
c) Hold an Own Bachelor, issued by the Universitat Politècnica de València or by other Higher Education Instituions withs recognitions of the title.
d) Hold work experience strongly related to the Studies, and recognized by the unviersity as a competence lever equivalent to university studies.
• To access Diploma of University Extension studies and Own Bachelor’s Degree studies (undergraduate studies), the access requirements will appear in the public information and they will be dependent of the responsible of the studies.
PRE-ENROLLMENT
• Pre-enrollment periods and their requirements will be indicated in the public information of the title and during the pre-enrollment process.
• The student will be responsible for the accuracy of the documents provided and the data entered in their pre-enrollment and the information provided until the completion of their studies, which will be used in any communication, as well as in the certificates and titles that may be issued.
• Any document, scan, or copy provided that is not truthful or has been manipulated to mislead regarding its accuracy will result in immediate expulsion from the studies without the right to a refund. The UPV reserves the right to take any legal action it deems necessary.
ACCEPTANCE OF ENROLLMENT
• Once the access requirements have been verified by the administrative services and the student's academic record has been reviewed by the academic director of the Own Title, and if there are sufficient places, the student will be accepted into the studies (enrollment accepted). Enrollment will be considered effective when the first payment is verified, in accordance with the prices and deadlines established in the public information of the Own Title.
• Failure to pay any of the obligations contracted by the student may result in the cancellation of their enrollment, with no right to any refund of amounts paid up to that date. The UPV reserves the right to claim outstanding amounts through the appropriate legal channels.
• A preliminary interview by the academic director of the Own Title may be necessary for acceptance into the studies. In such a case, it will be indicated to the students in the public information.
• Once enrollment is formalized, the student will be obliged to comply with the academic and administrative regulations of the CFP - UPV.
• Students enroled in Face-to-Face or Blended studies will be covered by the UPV accident policy, but students must buy a personal health insurance before attending to the Course.
• Although UPV's synchronous training may be eligible for funding by FUNDAE, the management of such funding must be carried out by the company itself or subcontracted to a management company. The CFP - UPV may add the required information to the invoice issued at the request of the company, which must be specified in the invoice application process.
MODULE/SUBJECT ENROLLMENT
• Students must meet the same access requirements to enroll in a module as those required for enrolling in the complete Own Title, unless it is indicated that it is an open module with no entry requirements.
• Enrolling in modules will only give students the right to complete the studies of the complete Own Title in subsequent years, if the studies are offered. Due to changes in study plans, students may need to go through a prior validation process.
• Successfully completing a module will entitle the student to receive the corresponding certificate for the completed module or subject.
SUBMISSION OF FINAL TITLE WORK
• In the case of a Master's or Own Degree, the submission of a final work is mandatory, with a maximum period of 3 years from the end of the teaching period, unless the public information for the studies establishes a shorter period. Other Own Titles may also require a final work, in which case, the responsible parties will establish the submission deadline in the public information, which shall not exceed three years.
• If, within the established period, the student does not submit the final title work or if it is not qualified as passed, the student will lose the right to the issuance of the title, but may request an academic certification indicating the completed subjects.
ACCESS TO TRAINING MATERIALS AND ONLINE MONITORING
• Access to the asynchronous component of the courses, i.e., the online content, will occur once the course has started, on the day following the effective enrollment, which is verified by the first payment, in accordance with the prices and conditions established for each Own Title.
• The course materials may be accessible to students in their entirety at the beginning of the teaching period, or on a scheduled basis according to the academic calendar.
REFUND OF TUITION FEES Refunds of tuition fees will be considered in the following cases:
1. Due to causes attributable to the University:
• Cancellation of the Specific Title.
• Substantial changes in the Specific Title's content or dates.
• Incorrectly charged amount. In these cases, the refund of the tuition fee will be processed upon request by the interested party, accompanied by the necessary documentation.
2. Due to causes not attributable to the University: In these cases, the refund of the corresponding tuition fee will require authorization from the responsible parties of the Specific Title. The authorization for a refund may be for a partial amount of the tuition fee, in which case the reason will be communicated.
The student or payer will request the refund through the CFP - UPV training portal, providing the required documentation (as outlined in the refund request document) with the following considerations: • In general, tuition fees will not be refunded if the request is made less than 10 natural days before the start of the academic period.
• Refund requests made 6 months after the expected end date of the academic period will not be accepted under any circumstances.
• Approvals for refunds that do not provide the necessary documentation within a maximum of 6 months from the date of the request will be revoked.
• Refund requests paid by credit card will be refunded to the same credit card. However, CFP - UPV may decide, for technical reasons, to issue refunds via bank transfer, in which case the interested party will need to provide the necessary documentation.
• Payments of fees made through an ATM using a credit card will be considered as payments by receipt for all purposes.
• In the case of a third-party invoice, the refund will be made in the name of the third party.
• To process a refund to an account with a different account holder than the payer, authorization from the company or institution that received the invoice will be required.
• A refund request may result in the cancellation of the enrollment.
DATES, TIMETABLES, DURATION, AND LOCATION OF STUDIES Specific Titles with a synchronous component or part will be characterized by specific timetables and locations. To this end, they will be governed by the following considerations:
• Dates and timetables for in-person activities, as well as their duration, will be determined by those in charge of them and will be conveniently included in the course advertisements.
• The timetable specified in the actions, unless otherwise indicated, will be Spanish Peninsula time (UTC +1, with daylight saving time changing to UTC+2).
• Regarding the location, those responsible for the activity will include the physical classroom where the activity will take place, as well as the technology to be used when the course can be attended remotely via telematic means (virtual classroom).
On the other hand, Specific Titles with an asynchronous component or part will be characterized by flexibility, both in terms of schedules and locations. In this regard, the following considerations should be considered:
• Matriculated students will be informed of the access address to materials as well as the credentials for such access.
• Access to course content during the course period will be available 24/7, except for moments related to system maintenance processes or the inability to keep equipment operational due to lack of electrical power or internet access.
• If there are any activities with specific schedules or deadlines during the development of the Specific Title, these will be set, unless otherwise indicated, according to Spanish Peninsula time
(UTC +1, with daylight saving time changing to UTC+2). Any changes to the configuration data of the Specific Title, as included in its advertisements, will be communicated well in advance for the knowledge of those enrolled.
CERTIFICATES AND DEGREES
• Successful completion of the Specific Title studies will entitle the student to obtain the corresponding Specific Title from UPV, signed by the Rector.
• Unless otherwise indicated in the specific conditions of the Title, UPV will not handle the legalization of its issued Titles.
• CFP-UPV may independently certify the completion of the different subjects of the Specific Title, at the request of the responsible parties of the Specific Title, if indicated in the advertisements. In this case, it will issue the corresponding Certificate of Achievement.
• The issuance of the Certificate of Achievement for a module or subject requires attendance of a minimum of 80% of the hours in the synchronous mode and passing the evaluation tests established for this purpose.
• Certification of modules or subjects is electronic, accessible through the CFP-UPV training portal, and has the same validity as a traditional paper certificate.
• The student will have their module or subject certificate within a period not exceeding one month from the date of completion of the studies.
CONTINUOUS ENROLLMENT COURSES Continuous enrollment courses: These are courses developed in asynchronous mode that keep their enrollment period open until the specified end of enrollment date. The training period is not set as a general rule but adapts to the moment when each student joins the course.
In continuous enrollment courses:
• The course completion dates will be calculated based on the enrollment date in the course and the grading of the last subject completed.
• A degree will be requested once the students have successfully completed the course subjects and paid the corresponding fees.
• Vacation periods will be considered: Christmas, Easter, and the month of August.
Any changes to the configuration data of the training activity, as included in its advertisements, will be communicated well in advance for the knowledge of those enrolled, and in some cases, may entitle a refund request of the enrollment fee.
